MONDAY-We finally have the motorhome on the way to the shop to have it worked on. The trip to the ranch for Easter week was difficult even though it was under 50 miles. The rig ran poorly and we were afraid to drive it home. Good Sam Roadside Assistance had the unit picked up at the ranch and taken to a truck center in Beaumont, only a few miles from the ranch. They disconnected the driveshaft and off it went. TUESDAY- Linda at Yates Truck & Auto called to inform me that they had found the problem. There had been a "small fire" which damaged a wiring harness that controlled the O2 sensor and some other functions which would cause the symptoms. WEDNESDAY: Well...Yates Truck and Auto is a good shop but their idea of a "small fire" is a bit understated (see photo below). They got the parts in today, installed them and all is working well. They told me that when they installed the new cable harness "the other 4 cylenders started firing".....which made me feel very good. They did find some cracks in a couple of spark plugs and some bad wires so they are changing them also but not as part of the fire damage. If all goes well I will pick it up on Friday since Thursday we are "working cattle" at the ranch all day. FRIDAY: I got the MH back and it works like it did when it was new. Two sensors, 8 plugs and wires and a wireing harness later. I must say that Yates Truck and Auto did a great job. |

In this photo you can see the burned wires which have been re-attached for testing at the shop. |
This is the hole that burned thru the protective covering under the MH and some insulation material....This is located in the area of the Recliner and Passenger Seat. It is about 12" square. |

The shot to the left is taken so it shows the burned hole and the wires in the same photo. I was expecting to see a wire with the insulation melted and some small bubbles on the underbody protective cover. This is much larger than I had imagined it being. |
