High Island is an unincorporated community located at the East end of Galveston County on the Bolivar Peninsula.

The town is one mile from the beachfront, one mile from the Intracoastal Waterway at State Hwy 124 just North of State Highway 87.

In 2008 Hurricane Ike almost wiped out the Bolivar Peninsula and did change things from what you see here.

See below for a photo tour of our little town

Rollover Pass, Gilchrist TX

Rollover Pass is a "fish pass" between East Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico and is one of the hottest salt water fishing spots anywhere along the coast for 60 miles in either direction. Fishing is free but for hookups visit one of the many RV Parks at the cut or the nearby area.
