Garbage Can Turkey

NOTE: Be sure to "Season" your garbage can by removing all of the galvanize before using it for cooking...this takes lots of fire and heat inside the can days before you cook.

Clear an area to cook the turkey
Make a foil tray with a tight seam
Drive the rod thru the foil base
Lower the bird onto the rod
Place the turkey onto the rod
Place the seasoned can over the bird
Place the can tightly onto the foil
Wrap the foil against the can bottom
Place coals around can bottom and top.
Light the "Match Light" Coals
Allow to cook for two hours
Clear coals and use pliers to remove can
A doubting crown gathers at 6 PM
Skip watches anxiously
Bets are taken by some.....
Garbage Can Turkey is Done.

Burn ALL galvanize from the can using good wood and lots of heat days before you start to cook the bird. Rods can be made from stainless steel pipe or rods welded at the top to hold turkey.

Season your bird and follow the steps below the photos. Arnold used two 10 pound bags between the top and the bottom but it must be match light charcoal.

I will include a shot of my turkey rods as soon as I get them welded...they are slightly modified as to hold the bird after cooking.

I am sure Maineiac (Arnold) will send detailed directions for me to post here instead of my made up ones....
